Call for assistance at school crossing

27 Feb, 2007 09:50 AM
CRESWICK Primary School is appealing for more crossing supervisors to man Raglan St.

Currently, there are only enough crossing supervisors to supervise the Napier St crossing.

School principal Rob Dixon said the Raglan St needed a crossing supervisor because of the volume of traffic.

"The Raglan St crossing is also a dangerous crossing," he said.

To encourage people to volunteer their time at the crossings, Ballarat MHR Catherine King supervised the crossing last Friday morning.

Wearing the traditional uniform, Ms King encouraged people to donate their time and help the community.

"There's not enough volunteers to staff it full time," she said.

Ms King said parents wanted the crossing to be supervised.

She said all the necessary training would be provided to staff the crossings.

Ms King said if there were more volunteers, it would allow more flexibility between the nine current supervisors.
