Body found in lake identified

21 Jul, 2009 12:10 PM
THE body of a man retrieved from Lake Daylesford on Monday has been identified as Joseph McGuigan, 43, of Northern Ireland.

Daylesford Police Leading Senior Constable Wayne Jones said the man's family had been notified and was making arrangements to take Mr McGuigan's body back to Ireland.

The coroner has conducted an autopsy but the results were not yet available.

"We are tracking down witnesses to verify his movements and are preparing a report for the coroner," Leading Sen Const Jones said.

The man is believed to have died from "misadventure". His body was retrieved from the lake on Monday afternoon, after being found near a jetty.

It is believed the body may have been in the lake overnight.
