Bentley car tour rolls into town

26 Oct, 2005 08:45 AM

HISTORIC Bentleys cruised into Daylesford as part of an international rally.

The rally, which included Bentleys from many eras, stopped briefly in Daylesford before continuing on to Echuca.

Participants began the rally in Perth and will come to a rest in Sydney at the end of the month.

For those who want to cruise in their unique cars for longer, sunny Brisbane will end their tour.

Participants, Rolf and Edda Aschmann, from the Channel Islands said they would cover about 6000km in the rally.

"We stop at various places along the way," Mrs Aschmann said.

"We have seen kangaroos and echidnas."

Barrie Frost, from Chillingham in Northern New South Wales, drove his 1925 Bentley in the rally.

"It's a lovely car," he said.

"It's so relaxing to drive."

Mr Frost will cover about 9000km through scenic Australian destinations.

He said he would arrive home this Friday.

Participants boarded a paddle boat on the Murray River on their arrival in Echuca.
