GRACE Bellingham will run a memorable 400 metres in the Queens Baton Relay as it passes through Daylesford on March 8.
Ms Bellingham, 67, from Hepburn Springs, was nominated anonymously to run in the once-in-a-lifetime event.
She said her commitment to scouting contributed to her selection.
Ms Bellingham is a cub scout leader and has been scouting for over 35 years in Creswick and Daylesford.
"It's a big part of my life," she said.
She is currently the acting scout leader for the Daylesford Scout group.
"I enjoy the outdoor activities and being with the young girls and boys," Ms Bellingham said.
"I have met good friends."
Ms Bellingham was awarded the Hepburn Shire Council citizen of the year in 1985, is secretary for the Inner Wheel in Daylesford and was a member of CYSS and various mother's clubs.
She said she wasn't nervous to carry the baton.
"I'm more excited,"she said.
"My family will watch me and cubs and scouts."
Ms Bellingham will run from the Daylesford Town Hall to Millar St about 3.30pm on Wednesday, March 8.
* HAROLD Treweek of Ascot carried the Olympic torch at the Melbourne Olympics in 1956 when he was 23, and he will relive the moment next month.
Mr Treweek, 76, will carry the Commonwealth Games Queens baton in Guildford on March 8, from the Midland Hwy to the Loddon River.
Mr Treweek was nominated by the Creswick Sportsmans' Club to carry the baton.
He is a life member of the club, as well as the Learmonth Football Club.
"It's great to be carrying the baton, thanks to Creswick Sportsmans' Club," he said.
"It's something we won't be able to do again."
A stock agent for TB White in Ballarat and a farmer, Mr Treweek said the highlight of being in the Creswick Sportsmans' Club was raising money for junior sportspersons.
Mr Treweek will carry the baton at 2.42pm covering 450 metres.
* BERNARDETTE Tacey will represent the Creswick Lions Club when she carries the Queens Baton.
Mrs Tacey, Creswick Lions Club president, said she was honoured to carry the baton in her hometown.
"The four or five minutes I carry the baton will feel like an eternity but it'll all be over quickly," she said.
Mrs Tacey, 49, was born and bred in Creswick.
She works full-time at the Creswick Hospital in the catering department, is a masseur and enjoys reading.
"It has been rewarding working in the community services," she said.
Mrs Tacey will celebrate her 50th birthday a week before she carries the baton.
"It's going to be a big week," she said.
Mrs Tacey will carry the baton 450 metres in Albert St up to the traffic lights at 4.20pm on March 8.
