BULLARTO Primary School principal Sue Beel has gained an award for her involvement in the community.
Ms Beel was presented with a Certificate of Recognition in the Small Schools Curriculum Innovations award for community initiatives.
She entered the awards after attending a small schools conference in May.
"I let people know what we're doing out here," she said.
"The award is about reaching out wider in the community and building relationships with people."
Ms Beel also won a Meritorious Certificate awarded by the Society for the Provision of Education in Rural Australia's 2005 Australian Rural Education Award.
"The award is a recognition of the teamwork we have at the school including parents, the school community and the Goat Club." she said.
"I explained what we're trying to achieve."
She said the school used the natural farm and bushland in pupil's learning.
"Children are learning how to handle goats and the vegetable garden," she said.
Ms Beel said she wasn't expected the award.
"It was quite a shock and a surprise," she said.
Ms Beel was awarded $450 as part of the Certificate of Recognition award which will be allocated to the school community farm.
