Artist's 'Approach' reflects fire threat

26 May, 2009 11:19 AM
THE threat of the Muskvale bush fires has been captured in a painting that shows how close it came to Daylesford.

Daylesford artist Brian Nash pictured right with a detail of his painting, said.

"It's a reminder to people of how much danger the town was in," Nash said.

"Without the change of wind, we could have been in a lot of trouble."

Nash said that the cloud of smoke represented in the painting had the appearance of an atomic bomb.

"It was so interesting and terrible at the same time," Nash said.

The painting, Approaching Fire will be on display at the Castlemaine Art Show next month and can now be viewed at Impressions of Daylesford.

Nash has lived in Daylesford since 2000 and his paintings are held in private collections in Europe, the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Asia, Japan and Australia.
