THERE is no stopping the development of Daylesford's ARC recreation centre.

Architects Morton and Dunn have presented floor plans to the ARC project steering committee.

Hepburn Shire Council, the Department of Education and Training, Daylesford Secondary College and the project steering committee will met on Monday to finalise the plans.

Once complete, the plans will be available for the public to view at the college and council offices.

Hepburn Shire Council recreation and tourism manager, Geoff Ryan, said it was fantastic to see the project coming to fruition.

"The project has got to this stage thanks to the hard work of the fundraising committee and the community," he said.

Daylesford Secondary College principal Heather McIntyre said students and staff were very pleased with the promise of the wonderful new facility being ready for use in 2006.

The $1.22 million State Government grant which increased the total money for the project to $2,440,000, has allowed for two multi-sports and purpose indoor courts.

Supporting facilities including toilets, change rooms, kiosk, first-aid and umpires room, managers office and disabled toilet.

The project, located at the Daylesford Secondary College, will also include upgrades of shared community and school assets including squash courts and theatre projector lighting and sound equipment.

The ARC is a much anticipated facility which has been made possible by a remarkable fundraising effort by the community and commitment of funding from three levels of government.

It will be the largest floor space la107%yet in the shire for a multi-purpose community building and will cater for indoor sports, community events and displays and large meetings.

Sports will include volleyball, netball, indoor soccer and badminton.

The $1.22 million grant matched $1.22 million already raised including $300,000 from community fundraising, $300,000 from Hepburn Shire Council, $500,000 from Sport and Recreation Victoria and $120,000 from the Federal Government.
