A new take on old machinery

27 Nov, 2007 10:24 AM
BLACKWOOD artist Greg Cassidy is exhibiting farm machinery sculptures at Trentham.

Mr Cassidy has a long-standing fascination with farm art and gained his skills through his career as a metal worker.

"My dad collected old farming machinery so I've always had a fascination for anything old," Mr Cassidy said.

"I was doing some handyman work at a friend's house and she recognised my ability. I am forever indebted to her for her encouragement and support.

"I began metal sculpturing and felt honoured to see how well my work was received by the local community," he said.

Mr Cassidy's work is primarily available through the Blackwood Gallery, but he also has pieces at Pantechnicon Gallery, Daylesford.

The exhibition is at 10 Bridge Rd from 9am until 6pm and runs until Sunday.

A meet the artist afternoon will be held on Saturday from 4pm to 6pm.
