DAYLESFORD will host Victoria's first regional produce summit next month.
The summit will be held on September 18 at the Lake House.
Last week Minister for Regional and Rural Development Jacinta Allan announced a $9900 grant toward the event.
Ms Allen said the summit would allow those involved in culinary tourism to share knowledge with others, building on what was a very successful industry.
"This is a $16.5 billion industry for the Victorian economy and this summit is good at a time when there are some particular challenges for our food and wine industry," she said.
Lake House owner Alla Wolf-Tasker said the Daylesford Macedon Produce group had been trying to get the summit going to get growers and produce suppliers together.
"This is an opportunity for people to get together, talk about their businesses and listen to current research and facts on food and wine production and marketing," she said.
"There are lots of new trends in produce, the way food is looked at, marketed and grown."
Among the line-up of guest speakers are David Hughes from London's Imperial College and scientist Peter Singline from BrandDNA.
Ms Wolf-Tasker said because many businesses were very small, they spent a lot of time on their business and did not get to discuss issues with other business owners.
"This way they will be able to understand what support there is in government and see how others have set up their business," she said.
Hepburn Shire Council tourism manager Geoff Ryan said the summit would help to strengthen the Hepburn region, promoting it as the place to go for food, wine and mineral spas.
