PLANS for a $10 million spa complex at Sailors Falls was on the agenda at the Hepburn Shire Council's monthly meeting last week.
As The Advocate was going to print, councillors voted on the proposal, which included a day-spa facility, short-term accommodation, conference facilities, a restaurant, mineral water harvesting plant, lavender plantation, retail
shop, cheese making factory and manager's residence to be built on the Sault Estate at Sailors Falls.
The application also included a wastewater treatment facility plant designed to accommodate more than 5000 litres of wastewater per day.
The application received two objections, and council officers advised councillors to move the recommendation.
In 2000, an application was made to build a $18 million spa complex on the same site by former owner Paul Rasmussen.
Council's mayor David Smith said the wellbeing centre would be a good development outside Daylesford.
He said it would be built well off the Daylesford-Ballan Rd.
The centre will provide about 30 jobs.
If accepted by councillors, the project will be built in four stages over about 10 years.
